Africa is the only continent on Earth that sits in all four hemispheres at once.

The Equator is an imaginary line at 0 degrees latitude that splits the world into North and South. It runs through seven African countries, including Kenya and Gabon. At the same time, the Prime Meridian at 0 degrees longitude splits the world into East and West. This line passes through five African nations like Algeria and Ghana.The spot where these two lines meet is called 0,0 or 'Null Island.' This point is located in the Gulf of Guinea, just off the coast of West Africa. Because Africa is so huge, it spreads out in every direction from this center point. It covers about 30.3 million square kilometers, making it the second-largest continent on the planet.Being in the middle of everything gives Africa amazing variety. It has the hot Sahara Desert in the North and thick tropical rainforests in the middle. It is also the only continent that reaches from the northern temperate zone all the way to the southern temperate zone. This central location makes Africa a major highway for birds and animals migrating across the globe.
