Did the Titanic have a sister ship?

The Titanic had an older sister ship called the Olympic that looked almost exactly like it and sailed for 24 years.

The Olympic was the first of three giant ships built to be the most luxurious in the world. While the Titanic sank on its first trip, the Olympic completed hundreds of successful journeys across the ocean.

The Olympic and the Titanic were built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Ireland. The Olympic launched in 1910, which was about seven months before the Titanic. Both ships were roughly 882 feet long. The Titanic was slightly heavier because it had more enclosed deck space and different interior rooms.During World War I, the Olympic served as a transport ship for soldiers. It earned the nickname Old Reliable because it was so dependable. In 1918, it even sank a German submarine by ramming into it. This was the only time a merchant ship sank an enemy vessel during the war.The ship was designed with a double-bottom hull and 15 walls called bulkheads that could be sealed to keep water out. These features helped it survive several accidents, including a collision with a British warship in 1911. The Olympic was finally retired in 1935 after making 257 round trips across the Atlantic Ocean. After the ship was taken apart, its fancy wood panels and decorations were sold. You can still see the lounge walls from the Olympic today at a hotel in England. These parts show exactly what the inside of the Titanic would have looked like.
